Hi, I’m Ali

and I am not an Artificial Intelligence pretending to be a real person.

Fall in love with the work, not your process.

Wisdom offered to me in 2010 by the late Mike Hughes,
former president of The Martin Agency.

A man with dark hair, beard, glasses, black jacket, jeans, white sneakers, and a backpack sitting on a stone ledge near the river in front of Tower Bridge in London, with the bridge's blue arches and some buildings in the background.
A person holding a camera mounted on a tripod outdoors on a paved path with fallen autumn leaves.
Person taking a photo of themselves in a reflection on a window on a snowy day. The person is wearing a gray beanie with the Adidas logo, glasses, a plaid fleece jacket, and orange gloves. They are holding a camera and waving with their other hand. There is a car and construction equipment outside on the street.

I’m Ali Zaman and I am an experienced brand marketer with over 13 years in the tourism and destination marketing industry. My career has been built on a unique blend of creative foundation, data-driven strategic thinking, and the belief humility and kindness are the sharpest tools in the kit. You're just as likely to find me in Adobe After Effects creating motion graphics as you are in a dashboard reviewing performance metrics to optimize the next wave of campaign deliverables. I've helped drive campaigns contributing to record-breaking results — including Virginia Tourism's $35.1 billion in visitor spending in 2024, the highest in state history. I've led marketing and creative teams around a simple idea: great execution starts with a story worth telling.

Outside of my professional life, I enjoy spending time with my wife, pets, and friends in Richmond, Virginia. I'm a self-professed geek who enjoys board games and vintage cameras. I love doing anything with my hands, including woodworking and DIY projects. When I'm not rolling for initiative or in my workshop, you'll find me on a bike trail, a pickleball court, or wandering through your city with my trusty camera(s) in hand.

Let’s do great work together.
